RegulationsFilms must be “Sexy” – Films that explore sex, eroticism and sexuality from a personal, cinematic or cultural perspective.
Films under 40 minutes are considered SEXY Short Films. Short films will be screened in two categories -

Films must explore the theme of the festival. International short films If your film is in a language other than English or French you must send two copies of your film - one with English Subtitles and one with French Subtitles. For the Paris screenings All films MUST have FRENCH subtitles if it is in a language other than FRENCH to be considered for the Paris program (SIPFF). Francophone short films Francophone short films are films that have been produced or co-produced in French speaking countries or territories including:France, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec, Reunion Island, GuadeloupeNew Guinea, Martinique, Marocco, French Carribean. The film must have English subtitles as our audiences are international. This is also for the purposes of being considered for programming film in non-French speaking countries including the Sexy International Film Festival based in Australia as well as curation of other short film programmes. ------------------------------------------------------------ Preview: SIPFF can only accept DVDs as previews. TWO PREVIEW COPIES MUST be submitted on DVD (PAL or NTSC) (Region 0) with completed entry form and entry fee with FRENCH or ENGLISH SUBTITLES if the film falls under the international category. At a later date you may be asked to submit. Please ensure your DVD is playable and is suitably protected in transit. You must include with the DVD the form included in the automated response email that you will receive once you have correctly entered your film online or have written the WITHOUTABOX entry code cleary on the DVD. Films should be completed after January 1st, 2010. Entries without fee will be rejected automatically. Please do not send the original master as all films will be kept for archiving. EXCERPTS/COPIES: By submitting to SIPFF you agree that the festival may use up to 30 seconds of your film for publicity purposes. SIPFF may also make a copy of films that are selected to screen for exhibition, judging (nominated films go out to interstate jury) and may also be used for media review purposes. INDEMNITY: The filmmaker and its agents agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless SIPFF, its board, judges, sponsors and partners, individually and collectively, from all claims and demands, losses, damages, costs and liabilities relating to any films submitted to this festival. CANCELLATION OF FESTIVAL: In the unlikely event the festival is cancelled for any reason fees would be refunded but DVDs cannot be returned. Selection: Festival programmers select and invite all films presented at SIPFF. Filmmakers selected to participate will be notified by email at the Festival’s discretion (please ensure email address supplied is in working order). Filmmakers not selected will be notified by email by mid-late August. NB: The Festival reserves the right to program films completed prior to Jan 2010. These films will be screened out of competition. Shipping and Customs: SIPFF will not pay freight or customs charges for preview tapes or DVDs. The film entrant will pay for fees to ship their screening copy of their film to the festival. The festival reserves the right to refuse shipment if custom charges etc appear on delivery. ( The festival will only pay courier/shipment fees to ship 35mm and Betacam tapes back to film entrant once the festival has finished.) Should you be informed directly that your film has been selected, you will be required to submit extensive publicity materials. Please do not include publicity materials with your submission, as SIPFF cannot manage or return them. • Preview DVDs will not be returned. Selection: Festival programmers select and invite all films presented at SIPFF. Filmmakers not selected will be notified by email by mid- late August. Film stills (minimum 2), Press kits, etc should be submitted electronically on CD ONLY if the film is selected. PLEASE DON'T SEND PUBLICITY MATERIALS UNLESS YOUR FILM HAS BEEN SELECTED AS WE DO NOT HAVE THE STORAGE FOR THEM. If accepted into the festival you agree to provide an additional DVD copy if subtitled in French (if non-Francophone) AND a copy with English subtitles (non-anglophone short films). SIPFF's selection decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. We do not provide critical analysis or feedback. Screening: Films are screened on 35mm, Betacam PAL (SP and Digibeta) and DVD Pal only. For films which screen on Betacam and 35mm, a DVD copy with subtitles may also required as we may screen films outside of the festival including partner festivals and screenings outside the festival which may include non-Francophone territories. Films may also be selected to take part in screenings at partner festivals. The prizes are subject to change at the festival’s discretion and will be announced in the festival program. Films may be compiled in a « Best Of » DVD which will be made available for sale to help support our association as well as help to promote and distribute quality independent cinema. A percentage of the sale will go to filmmakers selected for the compilation DVD. (Each filmmaker will be contacted for permission and a separate agreement will be arranged). Films may also be chosen to appear in other film festival programms as part of "best Of" SIPFF in order to promote the festival. It is for this reason that we require both and English subtitled version of your film and French subtitles. You agree to grant the festival the right to publicly exhibit your film and confirm that if accepted we have the right to promote the film in all promotional materials. You also confirm that all required permissions have been obtained to enter this film in the festival and that the film does not infringe the rights including copyright of any third party. |
